Clear, and absolutely FREEZING. The equines have been blanketed, and I made them each 4 litres of warm oatmeal with honey, and apples with their breakfast. I know it was a high calorie food, it got them amped, but they were NEVER trapped in the stalls, and could go run it off when they so chose. They did play in the pasture more than most.
We used steel cut oatmeal, by the way. I couldn't stand the other, more commercially available stuff, neither could anyone else in the household, and the equines relished it, so hey!
I'd also decided to make breakfast. I was the worst cook in the house, and if it was intricate, I didn't do it. If it was just a matter of throwing stuff in the bowl, stirring it up and heating it, fine. I could do that. Just don't give me any fancy sauces to make, or stuff like that.
Today, I was in a omelette kind of mood. Spinach, mushroom, garlic, shallot, red pepper, and tofu. Yes, TOFU!!!!! Lots of garlic powder, paprika, Italian herbs, and cracked peppercorns. I HATED fine ground pepper. The only thing I did like fine ground was paprika, garlic or onion powder. Everything green, give it to me in pieces. Of course, I saturated them in butter. As sides, it would be a mixture of blue, rasp, and strawberries in cream, topped with whipped cream, and toasted English muffins. Everyone was in the kitchen before everything was done. The mullethead put the tay on, and my mentor set the table. We also had orange juice. Nice last day before the housecleaning.
Next month, the last week before my visit home, we'd do the empty rooms. My mentor and I would probably do that when the mullethead was mowing the grass. It would be a quick job for us. We'd do the windows, wipe down the walls, the radiator heaters, mop the floor, and that would be it. I'd do the windows, dust the radiators, and mop the floors, and my mentor, who could reach the top without a stool, would do the walls. Then we'd party hearty for the second day of the the week. That post-cleaning trip to town always made the chores worth while.
Then my mentor, I, and the three equines would be off. My mentor told the mullethead she would be alone here for somewhere between 2 or 3 days. Then either we would be back to stay for the remaining months until my last volume was up without the equines, or we would be back to bring her with us; which was an idea she relished. I personally didn't know how I'd fare without seeing my dearest palomino stallion for the maximum 9 1/2 months, but at least I knew he'd be OK. I also knew I'd be cutting more time of that theoretical stay, but I didn't like being apart from one of my best friends for so long a duration when trapt in the illusion of linear time.
At least it was good weather for a ride later, even if it was kind of cold. I'd be spending more time with the equines before our alleged separation. I loved them all, and I'd miss them all.
Well, I guess I'll close off for now. Time for more tay, and getting ready for a late morning ride with my mates. Then back to the computer to see what the world holds for us today.
